Fulton County BOC approves funding to improve efficiency of the elections process

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- At the Aug. 5 board meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) approved the purchase of an election/asset management system and Poll Worker on-line training software system recommended by the county’s Department of Registration and Elections. Both systems will align the department to continue resolving issues that arose during the general election and general election runoff of 2008 as well as the primary and general elections of 2012.

“The approval to implement these two systems should improve our department’s ability to conduct elections more efficiently,” states Rick Barron, Director of the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections. “The 2016 Election Year is fast approaching and having these two systems in place will enable us to be better prepared for the expected increase in turn-out due to it being a Presidential Election year.”

Police seek info on SE Atlanta home invasion

ATLANTA -- Police are seeking information about a home invasion in southeast Atlanta.

Authorities say six masked men forced their way into a home on Morley Avenue on May 11.

Most of the suspects were dressed all in white and had their faces covered. One suspect tried to kick in the door but needed help from a second suspect who after two attempts, forced the door of the home on Morley Avenue open.

Six suspect then started to enter the home, four of them were carrying handguns, but suddenly stopped and eventually left without taking anything.

Police believe they might have been scared off when a female in the home tried to wake up her fiance. "She made it known that there were intruders inside the house and she advised him to grab a weapon," said Atlanta Police Officer Ralph Woolfolk. "At that point in time they left the location."
