City of Atlanta Asks Residents to Move Abandoned Cars for Road Treatment

The City of Atlanta is shifting its focus to clean neighborhoods and side streets of the snow/ice left over from the snow storm that came in on Sunday night.  We are asking the citizens of Atlanta to immediately remove their vehicle from the city streets (both legally parked/abandoned vehicles) so efforts can be made to clean the snow/ice off the roadway.

The equipment being used is heavy equipment; if vehicles are left on the roadway they may become damaged as these trucks are attempting to clean the roadway.

Those vehicles that were left abandoned by the owners who could not negotiate the snow/ice may result in the vehicle being towed from the roadway at the owner’s expense.

Solid Waste Collection Delayed Until Roads Improve

Solid Waste Collection Delayed Until Roads Improve

The City of Atlanta desires to keep you informed.  Please be advised that Solid waste collections are delayed due to hazardous road conditions and limited access to our solid waste transfer stations.

The Department of Public Works will begin collection of routes as road conditions improve. We will work to ensure completion of citywide collection.  Yard trimming collections are delayed until further notice. All route collections are dependent upon weather conditions and accessibility.

To report dangerous ice conditions on streets or traffic signal problems, such as outages, please contact 404.546.2615 or 404.853.3200.

APS Schools, Offices closed Thursday for the 4th Consecutive Day due to Weather

Atlanta, GA-- (Submitted by APS)

APS schools and offices will be closed Thursday (Jan. 13) for the fourth consecutive day due to hazardous road and travel conditions that continue to exist throughout the metropolitan area.

APS makes schools and facilities closing and opening decisions based on a continuous assessment of current and predicted weather and travel conditions, with the safety and security of students and employees constituting the primary factor.

The district will proactively announce the status of schools and offices on a daily basis, including when the district reopens.

The Roads are Open; We Have Your Traffic Information at 11Alive.com

All the roads in Metro Atlanta are open today. You need to pack a huge load of patience while you get going though. There are many delays out there. For details on particular routes, check http://11alive.com/traffic.

ALL INTERSTATES & MAIN ROUTES are open.

The left lanes have ice in them. Stay out of those left lanes. Assume that all overpasses have ice on them; many have glaze ice that you will not be able to see until you are on them.

ALL of the on and off ramps have ice in them. Approach them slowly and carefully. If you speed onto an offramp or try to turn suddenly, you will slide and crash.

ARTERIAL/MAIN STREETS --

All have some ice on them. Most with three lanes ordinarily are down to two; most with two lanes regularly, are down to one lane.

FOOD REVIEW: Local Three Kitchen & Bar, Atlanta, GA

FOOD REVIEW: Local Three Kitchen & Bar, Atlanta, GA

Local Three is located on Northside Drive within a very nice set of office buildings and if not for the breadcrumb-like signs it’s doubtful we would have ever found this gem of a restaurant regardless of being at the address. Fortunately, someone’s utter genius realized that without additional signage we could not have found our way but their signs lead us right to the door and to true culinary bliss.
