tvsdesign employee Christina Byrnes, AIA, LEED AP has two impressive accomplishments to add to her growing resume: in addition to graduating from from the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Center for Leadership program, Byrnes was also accepted to the LEAD Atlanta program, an initiative of Leadership Atlanta. These two activities not only represent Byrnes’ commitment to the practice of architecture and her dedication to city of Atlanta, but also reflect the commitment of tvsdesign to the development of its next generation of leaders.

Having just completed its third year, the ULI Center for Leadership brings together local real estate professionals to ”teach emerging leaders in the real estate and land use industries how the Atlanta region gets built.” Over a period of nine months, Byrnes participated in presentations, panel discussions and property tours with other participants of the program to gain insight on critical real estate and land use issues affecting development in the metro Atlanta region.  Required group projects included access to industry leaders, elected officials and recognized experts in real estate and land use.

“I was thrilled to be part of this program,” says Byrnes.  “To be part of such an esteemed group of young professionals in the real estate industry affecting change in our community was really exciting and empowering.”

In addition to her ULI graduation, Byrnes has also been selected to participate in LEAD Atlanta Class of 2013. Established in 2004, the community-based program aims to equip young professionals early in their careers with the skill sets needed to be effective civic leaders. By looking at and dissecting community and socio-economic issues, Byrnes will be part of a team of young professionals who represent the next generation of Atlanta’s leaders.  She will participate in seven, all-day training sessions on a variety of topics that range from building leadership skills to addressing relevant community issues.

“We’re very glad that Christina has the opportunity to represent tvsdesign in these endeavors,” says Becky Ward, senior vice president of practice at tvsdesign. “For over 44 years, tvsdesign has been involved in shaping Atlanta and, as a firm representative, Christina’s continuing that tradition.”

Byrnes is a 2004 graduate of The University of Tennessee where she currently serves on the Board of Advisors and has participated as guest lecturer. A resident of Ormewood Park, she volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House and United Way, among other community organizations. She is currently an Associate at tvsdesign where she splits her time between the practice of architecture, as a Project Manager, and business development. Having been involved in a number of projects including convention centers in Connecticut and Branson, Missouri, Byrnes is currently in the construction administration phase of the Augusta Convention Center in Augusta, Georgia, home of the Masters Golf Tournament.
