ATLANTA -- The Grant Park Scarecrow Contest begins Saturday and is sure to bring some fall cheer to the neighborhood.

This is the first year that businesses can participate in the event, which raises money for the Grant Park Parents Network.

To join in, make a scarecrow and place it in your front yard by Sept. 15. Leave it up through Oct. 27. Be sure to send a picture of your creation to GPPN vice president Kim Ritger at vicepresident@grantparkparents.org.

There is also a $5 entry fee for the contest. You can pay online.

Pictures of Grant Park's fall friends will be posted to the GPPN Facebook page, where the community can vote for their favorites. The top three scarecrows will win cash prizes.
