ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Junior Chamber (JCI Atlanta) will host its first member orientation and info session of the year! This event is open to any young professional between the ages of 21-40 that would like to learn more about the organization.

How do you expose urban youth to Georgia’s agriculture? You open a Pizza Farm!

The Cooperative Extension Metro Collaborative of Fulton, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties have invited 4th and 5th grade students to visit Pizza Farm 2013 on May 8 and 9, 2013 at the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall located in Forest Park, GA. Attendees will learn how dairy, vegetables, grains and meats come together to make the perfect pizza, as well as about good health and nutrition. 

“We are excited about the Pizza Farm!” states Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “Many children think their food comes from the grocery store.  The Pizza Farm will teach them that every pizza starts at the farm.”

Exhibits on the origins of pizza ingredients will be presented in a circuit of stations set up around the State Farmers Market Exhibit Hall.

Make a Wish holds 9th Annual Walk for Wishes

Make-A-Wish® Georgia will be hosting its 9th Annual Walk for Wishes this Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Turner Field.  The two mile walk, with pre-and post-event activities at Turner Field’s Grand Plaza, is one of the organization’s flagship events and has a fundraising goal of $325,000.

At the Walk, thousands of Georgians will gather to increase awareness around the work of Make-A-Wish Georgia and raise funds to support the granting of wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Ga., Ga. Tech baseball teams to battle in 11th annual Kauffman Tire Spring Classic for Kids

ATLANTA – The Kauffman Tire Spring Classic for Kids returns to Turner Field on Tuesday, April 23 as Georgia and Georgia Tech meet in this annual neutral-site showdown. With more than 20,000 tickets sold each year, the Kauffman Tire Spring Classic is one of the highest-attended regular season NCAA baseball games every season.

Proceeds from the event benefit the pediatric research of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Neurosciences Program.  The Children's Neurosciences Program collaborates with other institutions to discover preventative and curative strategies for children with serious medical illnesses or challenges.

ATLANTA -- The second annual Run with the Wolves 5K, 1-Mile and Health Fair will be held later this month.

This annual event raises money for Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School. Its goal is to promote healthy choices and active lifestyles.

Run with the Wolves will be held Saturday, Apr. 20. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with the 5K scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start. The health fair will run until 11 a.m.

Pre-registration is $20 until Apr. 15 and $25 after. The 1-mile run is $15 until Apr. 15 and $20 after. Visit atlncs.org for more information and to sign up.

Running nightly through Saturday, March 30, 2013, the fair encourages all Atlanta-area families and thrill-seekers to hop over this Easter weekend for classic midway entertainment!Audiences beware! The dynamic duo, Captain & Maybelle Steele, will kick off the weekend with their daring sideshow on Friday, March 29, 2013. The NBC “America’s Got Talent” stars will shock crowds with their carnival act at 9:30 p.m. Beginning Saturday, March 30, 2013, expect a jam-packed lineup of live musical entertainment by the hour. At 3 p.m., Drama Kids International will take the stage with a children’s ensemble. Additionally, Zoo Atlanta will be on-site at 4 p.m.
