Grant Park residents clean up storm damage

ATLANTA, Ga. – Residents in Grant Park are cleaning up their neighborhood after a quick moving storm knocked trees into cars and homes.

The fire department says one tree fell on Bryan Street SE overnight that was too large for the department to move.

Some homes had extensive roof damage. Friday morning, crews were already starting to quickly repair what they can.

Some residents were forced to find a new place to sleep as trees fell through their roof.

"I looked over and this giant tree was down. The diameter of the root system was huge, it was like 10, 15, 20 feet. And I thought, "How did this even happen?" said Grant Park resident Jason Pawlowski.

More than a dozen cars were damaged last night.

The power was out for this neighborhood for most of the night, but Georgia Power crews worked overnight to get the lights back on.
