Come out and celebrate Lun Lun, Yang Yang and Xi Lan this Saturday, for a Giant Panda Party.

Panda fans from across the U.S. are preparing to party, as Zoo Atlanta hosts a birthday tribute for three world-famous animal superstars: the Atlanta Zoo Giant Pandas. Festivities are scheduled for Saturday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to Noon.

Provided through partnership with Peachtree TV, PANDAMONIUM! 2010 boasts a green screen, which enables fans to pose for free souvenir photos “with” Xi Lan. The birthday tribute will feature special appearances by Zoo mascot Zhu Zhu and talks with the panda keepers.  At 11 a.m. guests of honor will be presented with birthday surprises.

The celebration is free for Zoo Atlanta Members and children under 3; free with general admission.

Zoo Atlanta Recieves Final Inspection

ATLANTA - September 14, 2010 - Zoo Atlanta has received the final inspection report from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) following a September 9 assessment of the circumstances surrounding a tiger rattlesnake’s escape from quarantine on August 27, 2010. During a thorough examination of all Zoo Atlanta facilities, DNR inspectors noted the three points below as the only areas requiring correction.

As to the cause of the snake’s escape, the DNR report validated the original conclusion made by Zoo Atlanta officials during a previous internal investigation, attributing the incident to human error.
